CLAY, EARTH AND TIME

Why the clay products are so popular in last few years?

So many local brands offer us clay and terracotta products. Even a big brands have offers with mugs and plates with quotes or brand tag, wall sculptures or furniture pieces made from some kind of clay.

Pottery today becomes a big industry and represents everything differently that represented 1000 years ago.

First terracotta ("baked earth") was found in prehistoric art, 24 000 BC. It was used for sculptures, easier material to work with than marble or bronze. Remember China's Terracotta Army..?

Later we could find it in architecture, roof tiles and brickwork, beautiful, durable and cheapest material to work with and also very commonly used to make flowerpots and decorative dinnerware plates. Terracotta pieces can be found across every continent and there is no civilisation or country where you can't find some examples.

Prime reason behind the popularity of the terracotta pots is that it is extremely beautiful. Many people buy these pots because of their beauty, red to brown details in their homes.

Terracotta pots are environmentally friendly. Planting is also popular last few years. There is no plant without flower pot, commonly made from terracotta, again. Those can be reused, especially in the process of gardening.

One of the main reasons for the increased popularity of these pots is that they are easily available and they are affordable, or at last cheaper than the normal utensils that we use at home.

At the end, where that pottery craziness comes from?

Our ancestors used terracotta and cocked in it. Clay is natural material, comes from the Earth, dries at the air and bakes in the Sun.

Do You agree with me if I say that humans like to stay connected with their origins and nature..?
